Ecogranular (Ecogranular Technologies S.L.) is a University of Granada spin-off that has developed a continuous-flow aerobic granular biomass process for biological wastewater treatment, removing organic matter, nitrogen and phosphorus in a single reactor. The technology cuts plant footprint, sludge generation and operating costs while improving effluent quality, and builds on the LIFE ECOGRANULARWATER project (LIFE16 ENV/ES/196) run by UGR's Institute of Water Research. In May 2024 it raised €174,000 from deep-science fund BeAble Capital, and it was an award winner for Sustainable Entrepreneurship in UGR's XIII University Entrepreneurship Competition; it also pitched at Alhambra Venture 2026 in Granada.
