WWegaw
Wegaw is a Swiss climate-tech company that provides AI-powered water intelligence to hydropower operators and energy traders. Its platform combines satellite imagery, ground-station measurements and atmospheric models to deliver daily snow water equivalent estimates and streamflow forecasts, with horizons from hourly to 12 months. Operators use these forecasts to plan reservoir inflows, reduce imbalance costs and trade more efficiently. Customers include Lyse, Innergex, FMV and Alpiq, and the company has run projects with the European Space Agency and Enel. Ion Padilla and Daniel Meppiel founded Wegaw in Lausanne in 2016, and the company is now based in Trélex. Its early funding came from Climate-KIC, ESA contracts and equity crowdfunding on Seedrs. It then raised a €1M round from BStartup (Banco Sabadell), Katapult, Great Stuff Ventures and Business Angels Switzerland, and later received Innosuisse grant support.
