Pepper

Pepper (The Urban Pepper) is a Madrid-based last-mile logistics start-up that offers sustainable urban parcel delivery to e-commerce businesses and logistics operators. It collects parcels from clients and carriers, consolidates them in urban micro-hubs that each cover a radius of about 800 metres, and delivers them the same day using zero-emission vehicles such as electric vans and motorbikes, with AI-assisted barcode reading. Its delivery staff are employed directly rather than outsourced, and it recruits people at risk of social exclusion and the long-term unemployed. The company was founded in Madrid in 2020 by José Lezáun Ayerra and Ángel Fiel, and has raised a small pre-seed amount of about $74K.
