HHAWK Biosystems
HAWK Biosystems, formerly Fastbase Solutions, is a Bilbao-based biotechnology company that develops tools to measure how proteins function inside patient tissue. Its patented QF-Pro® technology measures protein interactions and modifications directly in biopsies. One use is predicting a cancer patient's response to immunotherapy, by measuring interactions between the PD-1 and PD-L1 proteins. The company sells the Violet 3.0 benchtop microscopy system and QF-Pro® reagent kits to research labs, drug companies and clinical users. It was founded in 2016 by scientists from the Francis Crick Institute and Cancer Research UK, including Professor Peter J. Parker and Professor Banafshé Larijani, and took the HAWK Biosystems name in 2022. It raised €750,000 from about 450 investors in a 2020 crowdfunding round and is backed by Hasten Ventures and CDTI's INNVIERTE programme. In 2024 it was one of 42 companies selected for the European Innovation Council's EIC Accelerator.
