Capital Cell is a Barcelona-based equity crowdfunding platform that invests only in biotechnology and life sciences. Founded in 2015 and authorised by Spain's CNMV, it lets retail investors, business angels and venture capital firms co-invest in early-stage companies working on therapeutics, diagnostics, digital health, genomics, drug discovery, drug delivery and regenerative medicine. Its BioExpert Network of more than 3,500 specialists vets applicants, and about 3% of them are accepted. The platform has completed about 170 funding rounds with €162M invested in total, typically raising €0.16–3M per round. Its portfolio includes fetaLife, VRAIn Medical, Aspivix, Cardiawave and Womed. Its exits include the IPO of Vytrus and the sale of GoodGut to HIPRA, and Bionure went on to become Accure Therapeutics.
