ZeCardio Therapeutics is a Barcelona-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers new drugs for cardiovascular diseases that have no current treatment. It was spun out in 2019 from ZeClinics, a zebrafish contract research organisation (CRO), and is built on ZeCardio, its patent-pending platform for screening and analysing zebrafish models. It has three programmes: cardioprotection against the cardiotoxic effects of cancer therapies, which is the most advanced; cardiomyopathies; and regeneration of heart tissue after acute cardiac damage. The company raised €812,000 from more than 400 investors in a 2020 equity crowdfunding round on Capital Cell, and in 2025 it announced a further round of about $1.5M to expand its in-house research and preclinical studies.
