SSpliceBio
SpliceBio is a clinical-stage genetic medicines company based in Barcelona that uses a proprietary Protein Splicing platform built on engineered inteins from Tom Muir's lab at Princeton University, allowing large genes to be split across dual AAV vectors and reassembled inside cells — overcoming the size limit that blocks conventional gene therapy. Its lead program, SB-007, targets Stargardt disease and is in the Phase 1/2 ASTRA clinical study, alongside a pipeline in ophthalmology, CNS and other genetic diseases, plus a collaboration with Spark Therapeutics worth up to ~$216M. In June 2025 it closed a $135M (€118M) Series B led by EQT Life Sciences and Sanofi Ventures — the largest biotech financing round ever raised in Spain — bringing total funding to over $200M.
