CCornea Project
Cornea Project is a Barcelona-based ophthalmology healthtech company that develops technology for the early diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. It is building a non-invasive point-of-care device that uses a disposable card to measure corneal biomarkers and aims to give a result during the same consultation, in under 30 minutes. Its first target is subclinical keratoconus, and it plans to extend the platform to glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. The company was founded in 2015 by Pere del Campo and Sigfrid Borràs and works with Centro de Oftalmología Barraquer and Massachusetts Eye and Ear, with US commercialisation handled by its subsidiary PreVista Diagnostics Inc. It has raised about €2 million over several rounds, including a 2020 round of about €1 million, most of it (€874,500) from 365 investors on Capital Cell, led by AJL Ophthalmic, with Namarel Ventures and Catalonia.Health also among its backers.
