RUTI Immune

RUTI Immune is a Badalona-based biotech company developing a broad-spectrum antiviral vaccine based on trained innate immunity, intended as a first-line preventive against new or hard-to-control viral respiratory infections such as SARS-CoV-2. The company is a spin-off of Archivel Farma, which assigned it the rights to develop and commercialise the RUTI vaccine. RUTI was originally designed by Dr. Pere-Joan Cardona at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) to treat tuberculosis. The vaccine is designed to be compatible with other COVID-19 vaccines, and it entered a clinical trial with healthcare workers in Argentina after the country's regulator, ANMAT, approved the trial in 2020. Founded in 2020 and operating through Immuni Therapeutics S.L., the company raised a €1.6 million seed round through equity crowdfunding on Capital Cell in January 2021, backed by more than 800 investors.
