FrontWave Imaging

FrontWave Imaging is a Barcelona-based medtech company that develops supercomputing software for breast cancer diagnosis. Its UBIware software combines ultrasound data with full-waveform inversion algorithms, first developed for geophysical imaging, to produce high-resolution 3D images of the breast without radiation or compression, and it is being clinically validated at Vall d'Hebron Hospital in Barcelona. The company was founded at the end of 2020 as a spin-off of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and Imperial College London. It has raised around $5 million, including a €750,000 first round in 2021 backed by 101 Ventures, ACCIÓ and investors on the Capital Cell crowdfunding platform, and a seed round in 2023; other investors include Medex Partners and FemuQuì Ventures, and it has non-dilutive funding from the EIC Pathfinder (QUSTom project) and CDTI Neotec.
