Materials Invisible to Oxygen
Materials Invisible to Oxygen (MITO) is a deep-tech materials science company developing corrosion-control technology for metal surfaces. Its approach is based on materials that are 'invisible' to oxygen, designed to protect metals in harsh environments such as seawater, salt, humidity, rain, snow, extreme temperature and pressure, and acidic or alkaline conditions. The company was incorporated in February 2024 in Tenerife as a spin-off of the Universidad de La Laguna, building on patented research by chemistry professor Gonzalo García Silvestro, and operates from the NANOTEC Technology Center in the Las Mantecas science park. At pre-seed stage, it raised €180,000 from BeAble Capital through its BeAble Innvierte Science Equity Fund, with the Universidad de La Laguna and its founding researchers also holding equity.
