Sunhero

Sunhero was a residential rooftop solar company founded in Berlin in 2021 and headquartered in Barcelona, selling and installing photovoltaic systems (later also EV chargers) for Spanish homeowners, with in-house software for design, permitting and installer management. It raised roughly $17-18M total, including a $4M seed in Feb 2022 and a €10M Series A in March 2023 led by Planet A Ventures and Vorwerk Ventures, and reached 100+ employees and 1,500+ installations. Sunhero (and subsidiary Sunhero Instalaciones) filed for voluntary insolvency (concurso de acreedores) in January 2025, was declared insolvent by Barcelona Commercial Court No. 5 in February 2025, and has since announced full closure of operations.
