KKaleidos
Kaleidos is a Madrid-based, employee-owned open-source technology company that incubates, funds and operates its own products, most notably Penpot, the first open-source design and prototyping platform for design-code collaboration, and previously Taiga, an agile project management tool. Founded in 2011 (originally as Ars Code) by a group of 14 people who left corporate jobs, it evolved from a digital consultancy into a product company known for its values-driven culture (PIWEEK innovation weeks, 100% remote, feminism and transparency as stated values). It raised an $8M Series A led by Decibel in September 2022 — days after Adobe's $20B Figma deal drove Penpot signups up ~5,600% — followed by a further $12M round in February 2023.
