Oritia & Boreas is a technology-based wind engineering company, a spin-off of the University of Granada and official technology partner of Western University (Canada), founded in 2010. It provides applied research, technological development and advanced consulting on wind effects for tall buildings, bridges, flexible structures, renewable energy systems and sports aerodynamics, using computational modelling and wind tunnel testing, complemented by structural control and monitoring divisions. It is building LACIAD in Escúzar (Granada), which houses S.A.V.E., described as Spain's largest extreme-wind simulator/wind tunnel. It is an established R&D engineering SME based in Granada, and its funding is largely public (EU, Junta de Andalucía) with one regional VC.
