NNext-Gen Leather
Next-Gen Leather is a Madrid-based biotech materials company that grows NGL® (previously branded BacLEATHER®), a bacterial-cellulose-based biomaterial engineered as a biodegradable, animal-free and toxin-free alternative to animal and synthetic leather, targeting luxury fashion, footwear, leather goods, automotive and interior design. It was spun up in 2022 by science-based venture builder BeAble Capital around technology developed with EU Horizon 2020/EIC Accelerator support, and operates a pilot plant in Rivas-Vaciamadrid with a registered office in Madrid. Founder Concha García (PhD, MBA) is Chairwoman, with Elena Llagostera as CEO and Elvira Marín as CTO; the team is roughly 7 people and the company has raised a small seed-stage total (~€0.5-1M disclosed, including a €948K CDTI Innvierte co-investment with BeAble Innvierte KETs Fund).
