MiWEndo Solutions is a Barcelona-based medtech company developing MiWEndo, a low-cost microwave (non-ionizing) accessory that clips onto the tip of a conventional colonoscope to expand the field of view to 360 degrees, automatically detect polyps with a real-time alert, and differentiate tissue types. It was founded in 2019 as a spin-off of Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and ICREA, and addresses the roughly 22% of polyps missed in standard colonoscopies. The company closed a ~€4.1M round led by the European Innovation Council (EIC Accelerator, ~€2.8M) and Banco Sabadell and has entered a pivotal clinical trial.
