Fundación Botín is a Santander-based private foundation, created in 1964, that invests in early-stage biotechnology through Mind the Gap, its technology-transfer programme launched in 2011. The programme backs nascent life-sciences companies built on technology from Spanish research institutions, investing up to €500,000 per project over a period of up to two years. Each company is also paired with an expert advisor appointed by the foundation. Since launch, Mind the Gap has invested about €6.3M, and its companies have raised more than €20M in private capital. Portfolio companies include Nostrum Biodiscovery, Life Length, Gate2Brain, Vaxdyn, MiWEndo Solutions, Innitius, Epidisease and Textia Innovative Solutions.
