IInsectBiotech
InsectBiotech is a Spanish agri-biotech company that uses Black Soldier Fly larvae and a patented pre-treatment process to convert agricultural and food residues — principally olive-mill pomace (alperujo) from Andalusia — into low-carbon insect protein and oil for animal feed, plus frass fertiliser for regenerative agriculture. Founded in 2022 by three long-time colleagues, it raised €7.2M in August 2026 (its first disclosed institutional round, led by Arcano Partners with €3.8M via the Impacto Andalucía Innovación y Desarrollo fund, and €3.4M from a consortium of undisclosed US investors) to build a plant processing 7,500 tonnes of waste per year, targeting 150,000 tonnes of BSFL products annually by 2030-31. It won the Málaga AgriTech Best Start-Up award in 2024. Its operations are in Andalusia, with a registered address in Sevilla and plant sites near Jaén/Andújar and Granada.
