Novameat is a Barcelona-based food technology company, founded in 2018 by bioengineer Giuseppe Scionti, that makes plant-based whole-cut and shredded meat alternatives and a 'balanced protein' ingredient for blended meat products. Its patented MicroForce texturising process forms fibrous, meat-like structures at room temperature using standard food-industry equipment, without additives such as methylcellulose or carrageenan. The company sells B2B to foodservice distributors that supply hotels and restaurants in the UK, Spain and Benelux, and also works with meat producers and food manufacturers that add its ingredient to their own products. Novameat has raised about €25M in total, including a $6M pre-Series A led by Praesidium in 2022 and a €17.4M Series A in September 2024 led by Sofinnova Partners and Forbion's BioEconomy Fund, with Unovis Asset Management, Praesidium and Rubio Impact Ventures also taking part.
