RRIP Foods
RIP Foods (Rich in Plants) was a Barcelona-based foodtech company that made plant-based meat alternatives for the foodservice (HORECA) channel. It started with a plant-based chicken mince built on its own 'Meatrix' fat-encapsulation formula, designed to match the taste and texture of animal meat. It later added burgers, gyozas, skewers, baos, katsu and spring rolls, and in 2023 it partnered with the mycoprotein specialist Mycorena. The company was founded in Barcelona in 2021 and supplied more than 40 restaurants in Spain before expanding towards the Netherlands and Germany. In September 2022 it raised a €625K pre-seed round led by Ship2B Ventures with participation from BStartup Green, bringing total funding to about €1 million. It ceased operations in January 2024.
