PProteus Innovation
Proteus Innovation is a Valencia-based marine technology company that designs and makes electric, self-propelled watercraft for professional rescue services and leisure users. It now sells under the Amara Maritime brand. Its first product was Nàutic, a remote-controlled unmanned rescue vessel about one metre long that reaches people in difficulty in the water and tows them to safety. The current range includes the Amara R1 for rescue and the Amara M1 luxury water scooter, sold directly and through international distributors. Red Cross Valencia is among its customers. The company was founded in September 2020 by Miguel Ángel Sánchez, Jorge Pradas and Julio Ferrando, came out of the Demium start-up programme and went through Lanzadera's accelerator. In early 2021 it raised a €120,000 first round from investors in the nautical sector at a €720,000 post-money valuation, with ENISA loans alongside. A second round from professional investors in the maritime sector followed in 2023.
