Fundación Repsol is the Madrid-based corporate foundation of the Repsol energy group, established in 1995. It is active in early-stage investment in two ways. Its Fondo de Emprendedores is a corporate accelerator founded in 2011 that selects five to seven pre-commercial technology start-ups each year in energy, mobility, circular economy, decarbonisation, water management and industrial digitalisation, in Spain and internationally. Each company gets up to €120,000 as a convertible loan, 12 months of mentoring and pilots at Repsol facilities; 88 start-ups have been accelerated so far, and together they have raised more than €1.1B from investors. Through its wholly owned vehicle Repsol Impacto Social, which was launched in 2019 with a €50M commitment, the foundation also invests in social enterprises in Spain and Portugal that support the energy transition and employ people from vulnerable groups, including Koiki, Grupo Sylvestris, GNE Finance and Recycling4all (a joint venture with Ilunion).
