BBenviro
Benviro (formerly VEnvirotech Biotechnology) is a Catalan industrial biotech that uses bacteria to convert organic waste streams — currently mainly spent brewer's yeast and agri-food residues — into PHA biopolymers, sold as a 100% biodegradable, microplastic-free bioplastic under the brand 'beo' for cosmetics, food packaging, agriculture and textiles. Its original model deployed modular 'VE-Box' bioreactor containers on-site at food producers; the company now also runs its own R&D and quality labs in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda near Barcelona. It has raised roughly €15M+ in total, including an €11M round in 2021 led by an industrial investor alongside family offices and business angels, and co-founder Patricia Aymà won the Princess of Girona Foundation CreaEmpresa Award in 2026.
