CCatalyxx
Catalyxx is a greentech chemistry company that uses a patented, non-fermentative catalytic process to convert bioethanol into drop-in, carbon-negative higher alcohols (butanol, hexanol, octanol, decanol) used in paints, adhesives, resins, solvents and cosmetics. Founded in 2017 by ex-Abengoa executive Joaquín Alarcón de la Lastra and built on a decade of catalysis work with Spain's ITQ (Instituto de Tecnología Química), it is at Series A stage and has raised over €18M in equity plus large public backing, including a €37M EIB pre-approval and a €20M Circular Bio-based Europe grant, for its first commercial plant (announced for Sines, Portugal, ~€120M). It is legally incorporated as Catalyxx, Inc. in Chesterfield, Missouri, with its R&D centre and pilot plant in La Rinconada (Sevilla) and a commercial office at Paseo de la Castellana 93, Madrid.
