BZERO (BZERO Materials) is a Valencia-based biomaterials startup developing proprietary thermoplastic starch (TPS) technology to replace fossil-based plastics. Its home-compostable film can be produced as thin as 7 microns — up to 66% thinner than alternatives — while matching the mechanical strength of conventional LDPE used in bags, labels, food nets and flexible packaging, at cost parity. Founded in 2021, it has raised €2.5M in total, including an oversubscribed €1.5M seed round announced in 2026, and reports 20 proofs of concept, 10 industrial pilots and its first commercial contract.
