Libelium is a Spanish IoT company that designs and manufactures wireless sensor hardware (the Waspmote/Plug & Sense! platforms) and data-management software for smart cities, agriculture, water and air-quality monitoring, and sustainability. Founded in 2006 as a University of Zaragoza spin-off and headquartered in Zaragoza, it sells through 100+ partners and distributors in more than 120 countries and positions itself around 'datacracy' — data-driven public and industrial decision-making. It is a mature, revenue-generating private company rather than a classic VC-ladder startup: it closed 2025 with €11.8M revenue (+40% YoY) and has taken growth capital from Axon Partners Group (2021) and Kira Ventures, with a new 2026-2028 strategic plan targeting 40% annual growth. It also has a Madrid presence.
