Wetaca is a Spanish foodtech company that cooks chef-prepared, ready-to-heat meals and delivers them to homes on a weekly subscription basis ("tápers" delivered chilled). Founded in Madrid in 2014-2015 by Andrés Casal and Efrén Álvarez, who met at ICADE and became known partly through Efrén's appearance on the first season of MasterChef Spain, it operates its own production kitchen in Villaverde, Madrid. It is a growth-stage, revenue-driven business rather than a heavily VC-funded one: it billed €16.2M in 2023 and over €18M in 2024, serves roughly 250,000 meals a month, and began international expansion into Germany in early 2025. Total disclosed venture funding is modest (~€2.5M across small rounds led by Spanish investors).
