Shinephi is a deep-tech photonics startup spun out of ICFO (Institute of Photonic Sciences) in Barcelona — its 13th spin-off — that builds real-time, nanoscale optical metrology tools for semiconductor manufacturing, materials science and R&D. Its compact add-on module turns a standard optical microscope into a quantitative phase-imaging system based on lateral shearing interferometry (LIM), delivering sub-nanometre (~0.1 nm) optical-path-difference sensitivity over a large field of view at up to 50 fps, non-contact and non-destructive, at roughly 10x lower cost than comparable AFM setups. Launched in July 2025, it closed a €1M seed round led by Grow Venture Partners in October 2025 and was named Catalan Startup of the Year 2025. It is headquartered in Castelldefels (Barcelona area).
