Histocell is a Basque biopharmaceutical company and CDMO in regenerative medicine, founded in 2004 as a spin-off of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and based at the Bizkaia Science and Technology Park in Derio, near Bilbao. It develops and manufactures advanced therapy medicinal products (adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell therapies for bone regeneration, spinal cord injury and stress urinary incontinence) alongside a second business unit of medical devices and dermocosmetic products for wound healing, and offers GMP-grade contract manufacturing from its authorised ATMP facility in Larrabetzu. It has raised roughly €9M since 2006 from institutional and private investors, obtained GMP certification in October 2025 for clinical-grade iPSC cell banks with partner REPROCELL, and began clinical trials for stress urinary incontinence in May 2025.
