SSmart Vitamins
Smart Vitamins is a University of Santiago de Compostela (CiMUS) biotech spin-off that develops SDN Technology (Smart Delivery of Nutrients), a nanovehicle platform created in María José Alonso's nanomedicine lab that delivers essential nutrients selectively to target tissues for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmeceutical applications. Its lead asset, SV B-I, is an intranasal spray for influenza prevention that showed 100% protection in rodent preclinical studies; in March 2025 the company raised €2.1M to fund its first human clinical trial, planned to start in the UK in early 2026. It is headquartered in Santiago de Compostela (Galicia), and no venture capital fund appears in its cap table — its backers are pharma/health business angels (Vicente Durán of Medpoint, Antonio Parente of GP Pharm/BCN Peptides, Roberto Conde of Cantabria Labs, Santiago Domínguez of Sémola Ventures, Mauricio Peralta, José Luis del Río of Arcano, Roberto Pomares of Addleshaw Goddard España).
