Microalgas Future is a Spanish biotech company building what it describes as Europe's largest microalgae R&D and industrial production project, a biorefinery in the Agrifood City of Tudela (Navarra) covering roughly 50,000 m2, with a first phase of 20,000 m2 of large-scale cultivation and an initial capacity of 60 tonnes/year of spirulina biomass. It works with three strains — spirulina (plant protein), haematococcus (antioxidants) and Schizochytrium (vegan omega-3) — for nutrition, cosmetics, pharma, wastewater valorisation and decarbonisation, in collaboration with the University of Valladolid's Institute of Sustainable Processes and Basque firm Algaloop. It launched in mid-2024 with €4M from its founders and private investors against a total project value of €30M (€15M public / €15M private) and expects to create ~60 jobs in the initial phases. The legal entity is Microalgas Future SL (CIF B71509038), registered at Plaza San Juan 1, Tudela.
