Gloop is a Spanish foodtech that makes edible, vegan and compostable cutlery — spoons ('Gloops'), straws ('Gloojitas') and coffee stirrers — made from ingredients such as rice flour, apple fibre and vegetable oil, designed to replace single-use plastic in the HORECA channel. Founded in 2021 by Marta Maneja and Hernán Hernández (LEINN/Mondragon-TeamLabs students) after a trip to India, it sells in 130+ establishments and has worked with brands including Iberostar and Mahou; it has been supported by Lanzadera, EIT Manufacturing, SeedRocket and Madrid's CIEC Acelera circular-economy programme. It closed a ~€540K first round in March 2023 led by impact fund Decelera plus a €140K ENISA loan, and reported reaching positive EBITDA in 2025.
