IInsectius
Insectius is a Spanish insect-farming biotech that breeds black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae to convert agricultural by-products into insect meal, oil, dehydrated larvae and organic biofertiliser (frass) for pet food, aquaculture and livestock feed. Its model is decentralised: plug-and-play modular container farms installed next to agri-food producers, managed via its own AI/IoT farm-management software (larvai.com) and patented machinery, with a second consumer feed brand (nutrovofeed.com). Based at Sant Iscle de Vallalta / TecnoCampus Mataró in Barcelona, it raised €200K pre-seed (Nov 2023) and a €1M round led by GVC Gaesco (Nov 2024) plus ENISA/CDTI public funding, followed by a Series A of roughly €2.5M announced in August 2025.
