Nanostine

Nanostine is a Madrid-based deep-tech company that makes high-purity, ligand-free nanoparticles and nanostructured coatings. It uses physical gas-phase deposition in ultra-high vacuum instead of traditional chemical synthesis, and describes the approach as a platform technology. Its customers are in aerospace, energy, sensors and healthcare. Uses include coatings that protect radio-frequency devices on European Space Agency satellites, electrodes for hydrogen electrolysers, gas and explosives sensors, and coatings for implants. The company was founded in 2020 as a spin-off of the Materials Science Institute of Madrid (ICMM-CSIC) and is based at the Parque Científico de Madrid. Its early funding came from FI Group, ESA BIC, Fundación madri+d, a CDTI Neotec grant and an Acciona I'mnovation pilot. In 2023 it raised a €300,000 round led by FI Group's FI Nvest, with B5tec and business angels taking part. In 2026 it closed a round of more than €1 million from private investors and business angels, partly through the SEGO Venture equity crowdfunding platform, to scale up production.
