MMicrowd
Microwd is a Madrid-based impact fintech that finances businesses run by women entrepreneurs in Latin America, mainly in Peru and Mexico. Investors in Spain fund the microcredits through its platform from €50 and earn a financial return. Its newer M1CROWD product offers a 1% monthly return, with records kept on a blockchain so they can be audited. More than 11,000 women entrepreneurs have used the platform. The company is a certified B Corp. It was founded in 2013 by Alejandro de León, starting as a social-entrepreneurship project in Nicaragua. It has raised about $1.4M in early-stage funding. Its backers include Blanca Hernández and Mónica Delclaux, founding partners of Magallanes Value Investors, as well as Alantra ScaleUp and Irrazonables.
