TThe Gravity Wave
Gravity Wave is an Alicante-based circular-economy company that recovers plastic waste from the Mediterranean, mainly abandoned fishing nets, and turns it into recycled materials and products. It works with more than 7,000 traditional fishers in ports across Spain, Italy, Greece and Egypt, and with around 200 partner companies. It sells Gravitec® recycled panels, recycled plastic pellets, street furniture and interior design pieces, and records its traceability on blockchain. The company was founded in 2019 by siblings Amaia and Julen Rodríguez. After a first round of €100,000, it raised a €500,000 round led by basketball players Pau and Marc Gasol together with business angels, and it took part in URBAN-X by MINI's MINI Impact Program.
