Roka Furadada is a Barcelona-based deep-tech biotech company that researches, develops, produces and sells solar active ingredients for the cosmetics industry, with the aim of reducing skin cancer and other skin conditions caused by UV radiation. Its lead ingredient, Smart UV (PvB360), is a photo-adaptive UVA absorber that activates when exposed to sunlight. It is patented in more than 44 countries and is designed to have low toxicological and environmental impact. The company sells its ingredients to around 20 cosmetics manufacturers, including Nuraderm, across markets such as Spain, France, Italy, Poland, the UK, the US, Mexico, Korea, Indonesia and Japan. It has since added ingredients for acne (Sotabosc, 2024) and sensitive scalps (Canigó, 2025), and revenue reached about €1 million in 2025. Judit Camargo founded the company in 2019 after a pharmaceutical R&D programme at Ferrer was discontinued. It has raised about €4 million in private funding, including a €1.5 million Series A led by O Financial Club with Klinea Enginyeria Farmacèutica and Women Angels for STEAM, and a €2.3 million round in 2026 led by O Financial Club. It has also received around €4.5 million in public funding from ENISA, CDTI and the European Innovation Council.
