Tecnalia is a private, non-profit research and technology organisation headquartered in Donostia-San Sebastián, and one of the largest applied research centres in Spain and Europe. It invests through TECNALIA Ventures, its deeptech venture builder, founded in 2013. TECNALIA Ventures turns technologies developed in Tecnalia's labs into start-ups, takes equity stakes in them and co-invests alongside a network of business angels, family offices, VC funds and corporates. At the end of 2025 it held stakes in 21 deeptech start-ups across energy, health, industry, materials and the built environment. Portfolio companies include H2SITE, NEOS Surgery, Ingredalia, Vixion, VELTIS and IZPITEK.
