Biokemik
Biokemik develops and scales up proprietary fermentation, chemical, and separation processes to produce sustainable bio-chemicals (bio-1,3-butadiene, bio-2,3-butanediol, bio-acetoin, bio-methyl-ethyl-ketone) from renewable raw materials as substitutes for petrochemical feedstocks used in rubber, polymers, solvents, and polyurethanes. Spun off from the Tecnalia research center in May 2015, it is a small industrial biotech/green-chemistry company based in the Bizkaia Science and Technology Park (Derio, Basque Country, Spain) with a strong patent portfolio. It remains an early-stage, small team still seeking industrial partners for scale-up.
