KKanara
Kanara (Kanara Labs) is a Spanish deeptech biotech that produces plant-derived active compounds — resveratrol, polyphenols, cannabinoids, active pharmaceutical ingredients and biofuel precursors — via in vitro plant cell culture in modular bioreactors with non-GMO stem cells, avoiding land-intensive farming. Founded in 2021 and based in Tenerife (Canary Islands), it is a small pre-seed/grant-funded team (~2-10 people) targeting the pharma, cosmetics and nutraceutical industries, and in 2026 became the only Spanish company selected for the EU's EIC Pre-Accelerator, winning a €499,000 grant; it also works with energy group Moeve on cellular-agriculture biofuels. Its funding to date is public grants and accelerator programmes, ~$570K in total.
