Biolvegas is an Ólvega (Soria)-based renewable gas company that operates a biogas plant built from the outset to inject biomethane into Spain's natural gas grid. Through anaerobic digestion, the plant treats about 30,000 tonnes a year of livestock manure and 40,000 tonnes of agri-food waste and used oils. It produces roughly 35 GWh of biomethane a year, about the annual gas consumption of 8,100 households, along with organic fertiliser for nearby farmland. The company was incorporated in 2019 by a consortium of Grupo Nortegas (through Nortegas Green Energy Solutions), Biovec, Bioenergética de Navarra and Oleofat. Its roughly €6 million plant was financed with the backing of Caja Rural, Soria Futuro, Sodical and Iberaval, and began injecting biomethane into the grid in 2023.
