Classpack is a Mataró-based packaging company that makes sustainable flexible packaging for fresh fruit, vegetables and other food products. Its patented mixed laminates combine FSC-certified kraft paper with 100% biobased, biodegradable and compostable PLA film. The PLA layer lets the paper bags be heat-sealed and helps them resist tearing, punctures, water and mineral oils. The company sells preformed bags together with automatic weighing and packaging machines, mainly to packers of citrus, potatoes, onions, fruit and salads, and exports to Europe, America, Asia and Australia. Classpack was founded in 1980 in the Barcelona area and is privately financed.
