Herko Alternative Trucks is a Basque manufacturer of light zero-net-emission industrial trucks for last-mile delivery and urban services, powered by BioAutogas/Autogas engines. Founded in November 2021 as a spin-off of engine maker BeGas Motor together with trailer manufacturer Leciñena, its flagship BIOS 35 is billed as the first European truck with a 100% bioautogas engine, cutting CO2 by ~80%. It assembles vehicles at an 8,000 m2 plant in Abanto-Zierbena (Bizkaia) with capacity for up to 3,000 trucks/year, has raised roughly €16-18M across rounds (including a €4.22M CDTI Innvierte co-investment), and signed a deal with China's JAC Motors to commercialize up to 10,000 trucks in Europe by 2030.
