Thytech is a Madrid-based biotech spin-off of the Gregorio Marañón Health Research Institute (IISGM) developing cell therapies based on regulatory T cells obtained from thymic tissue (thyTregs), a novel cell source pioneered by its founders' Immunoregulation Laboratory. Its lead programme targets prevention of graft rejection in pediatric heart transplantation — it performed the world's first-in-human thyTreg therapy in a transplanted infant (published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine) — with further applications in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Founded in 2022, it raised a ~€350K seed round led by Banco Sabadell's BStartup Health, later added Farmalider as industrial partner via a capital increase (June 2026), and has secured over €2M in public funding from Spain's State Research Agency and CDTI.
