YY Combinator
Y Combinator is a San Francisco-based startup accelerator and seed investor, founded in 2005, that runs batch programmes several times a year and backs very early-stage founders across all sectors worldwide. Its standard deal invests $500,000 in each company: $125,000 on a post-money SAFE for 7% equity plus $375,000 on an uncapped MFN SAFE. Recent batches have funded roughly 150–250 companies each, and YC has backed more than 5,000 startups in total. Its portfolio includes Airbnb, Stripe, DoorDash, Coinbase, Dropbox, Reddit, Instacart, Twitch, Ginkgo Bioworks, GitLab, Gusto and Brex.
